OTTAWA, ONTARIO - Ottawa racer Jamie Holtom watched the opening round of the
Honda Michelin Series at Mosport. When the series makes its next stop at the
Canadian Grand Prix on June 12, the Ottawa teenager is scheduled to be at the
wheel of his newly acquired black Control Microsystems/ SCADAPack Honda Civic as
part of the two car entry for Jonak Brothers Racing.
"Being able to join the series is quite a surprise," Holtom said. "There is a
good blend of rookies and seasoned veterans. The competition level is very high,
and I expect that this series will really help in my development as a race
driver. The series seems to be very well run and they put on a really good race
at Mosport. I can't wait for Montreal. I have to thank Control Microsystems for
giving me this opportunity."
Holtom is also a member of Sunoco's Team Ultra 94, which is the driver
development program of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship Presented by
Toronto Star Wheels. Holtom earned a fully funded scholarship from the Sunoco
Ron Fellows Karting Championship to compete in the Bridgestone
Academy F2000 series, which gets underway later this year. "I am really lucky
that none of the race weekends conflict," Holtom said. "In fact, if I hadn't
been selected to Sunoco's Team Ultra 94, this Honda Michelin opportunity simply
wouldn't have happened. Our plans were to keep karting for a while longer before
moving to cars."
Jonak Brothers Racing's Mark Jonak is very excited about Holtom coming on board
to drive the team's second car. "Both Travis Walker, who drives our Oakville
Honda entry and Jamie come to us from the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Series,"
Jonak said. "That series develops some amazing young drivers, and for us to have
two of the best from that series driving for us is in the Honda Michelin series
is very exciting. I'm sure Jamie will have his Control Microsystems/SCADAPack
Honda up to speed at Montreal."
