A QUEBECER TEAM BEHIND A
EUROPEAN WHEEL:
A FIRST AT THE CHALLENGE!
Sherbrooke, February
20th, 2004 - Bertrand Godin and Marc-Antoine Camirand, two
talented drivers of the no longer existing Team Player's, will meet up in
Sherbrooke for the 6th edition of the Challenge sur glace Damafro -
Sherbrooke. It'a aboard a flashy Nissan Micra number 23, a T3F of the
Compte Tours team, that they will cross swords with the other ace drivers on ice
such as The Professor Alain Prost. The car finished 3rd this season.
This promising duo is powered by Les Enduits Stef and Balatti.
Les Enduits Stef is a manufacturing entreprise specialized in the
production of polymer based coatings, of different Exterior Insulation and
Finish Systems (EIFS) and also manufactures polystyrene moldings for interior or
exterior decoration. For their part, the Mini-Fermes Balatti have
developed an exclusive and naturel process to pick, prepare and preserve fresh
herbs.
Bertrand Godin is the only quebecer who participated to the six editions of the
Challenge sur glace Damafro - Sherbrooke. He even worked his way up to
2nd place at a race last year. The famous driver-presenter has a lot of "
sliding " experience as he tested his reflexes on the ice of Chamonix in 1999,
2000 and 2001.
As for Marc-Antoine Camirand, he participated to the last four editions of the
event in Sherbrooke. The last two were aboard his own car. He made his first
attempts on ice at only 16 years old at the track events of the FAQ. " Our BMW
wasn't powerfull enough compared to the French cars. So I decided to invest in a
European T3F to put up a good show. Teaming up with Bertrand is making me
believe that we could easily end up in the top 5 ", states the driver from St-Lonard-d'Aston.
We will see again the Subaru Impreza WRC number 20 driven by Yves Legris. He is
still looking for a copilot for next week. Since its first laps in 2001, the
Subaru of Team Legris Racing has always performed well.
Since it was such a success last year, Challenge sur glace Damafro -
Sherbrooke will host again the only motorcycle competition on an iced road
circuit in Quebec. More than 30 motorcycles, categories 600 cc Pro and
four-strokes Pro-Am, will compete in a final race of the Championnat canadien de
motos sur glace.
Amongst the most knowned drivers,
you will find Picotte, Ranger and Fournier. The motorcycles will offer a show
spread out on two days compared to only one day last year.
The finale of the Championnat du
Qubec de courses sur glace of the Fdration Auto-Qubec will also take place
in Sherbrooke. The racing cars part of the Sport and Supersport categories will
end their championship on the Bertrand-Fabi circuit.
The 6th edition of the Challenge sur glace Damafro - Sherbrooke is presented to
