MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -
“This is a great opportunity for me,” the 17-year old driver said. “Honda, Michelin and Alpine have brought back one of the best series ever run in Canada, and I am happy to be part of it.”
Mark Jonak, owner of Jonak Brothers Racing was keen to sign the prominent karter from the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship to drive the team’s car. “Travis is a good young driver,” Jonak said. “We are extremely happy to have him drive for us in 2004 and beyond. The Honda Michelin Challenge Series is a good fit for him and us.”
Walker has completed the registration process and now the team is in the final stages of aligning itself with a Honda dealer, which is an integral part of the Honda Michelin Series. The Honda Civic’s used by the series are purchased by the teams through Ontario and Quebec Honda dealers.
“We should be able to announce the Honda dealer we are working with by the end of the week,” Jonak said. “Our management team is anxious to finalize the arrangement with the dealer, so we can get the car in our shop as soon as possible.”
Walker, in addition to running the Honda Michelin Challenge Series will once again challenge for the headline Formula Senior class championship in the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels. “It is going to be a busy year for sure, but I am ready for the challenge,” Walker said.

Travis Walker is a 17-year-old karter from Mississauga, Ontario. He is a two time Canadian Grand National Champion - Junior Heavy and Junior Medium - in 2002. In addition, Walker claimed the Simcoe Kart Club 2002 Junior Heavy Championship in 2002. Other career highlights include two-second place championship finishes in Junior Heavy at the Simcoe Kart Club and Mosport Kart Club in 2001.
2003 was the first year of Senior competition for Walker, he competed in the potent ICC six-speed shifter karts in both the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels and the CART Stars of Tomorrow series.
Walker also enjoys playing electric guitar, hockey and computer games.
