Special Awards for Calgary! |
Two (2) drivers from the 2002 ASN Canadian National Karting Championships classes at Calgary, Alberta on August 9 - 11 who achieve the age of sixteen (16) on or before September 27, 2002 will be invited on a scholarship basis to participate in the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship Evaluation Day to be held at Mosport, Ontario on September 27, 2002. They will be selected from those age-qualified candidates who throughout the Calgary event display a combination of competitiveness, professionalism, neat appearance and behaviour on and off the track.
The selection team is Paul Cooke, ASN's Vice President of Competition and Karting Director, and Norman Jennings, ASN's National Karting Steward. The two winners will be announced at the podium ceremony on Sunday afternoon at Calgary. The winners accompany eight other winners from the Ontario Championship to the Evaluation Day. Drivers at the Evaluation Day will receive basic race car driving instruction, be fitted to their F2000 race car, and undergo a series of on-track tests during the day. At the Evaluation Day on September 27, two drivers will be awarded a scholarship for the 2003 Toronto Star Wheels F2000 Racing Series at Mosport International Raceway's Driver Development Track.
