August 22 - Chilliwack, British Columbia -  Eight new Canadian National Champions are now in the record books after three days of hot and sunny dry racing conditions mixed with wet and slippery conditions.

Nestled among the trees in BC's beautiful Fraser Valley, the track was superbly prepared by the CARTBC folks.

Over 180 drivers participated from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and the USA.

The CARTBC track had run all summer under hot dry conditions with no rain to wash away the rubber from previous races.

Consequently, during the Wednesday and Thursday practice sessions, drivers and tuners who normally are looking to find grip, were trying to find ways to loose grip while maintaining speed.

Friday morning, drivers and tuners searched for the chassis and tire balance in preparation for the afternoon qualifying sessions that would set the grid for the Saturday pre-finals.  Track records around the 1,224 meter track started to tumble as the drivers began the process of setting up for the Saturday afternoon qualifying sessions.

On Saturday morning the rains came intermittently.  Fortunately, as a result of good design, the CARTBC track drains well.  Underneath the skim of water, the rubber remained.  Drivers and tuners were faced with changing conditions of wet, half wet, and dry conditions for the track sessions and races.

Track conditions changed constantly during the pre-final sessions.  Tire selection was critical to the outcomes.  Some drives took the gamble of using dry tires when conditions dictated wet tires.  For a few it paid off, for some it did not.

On Sunday at noon, the rains stopped and the final races started under damp conditions, then mixed conditions and finally the track dried.

At the end of the podium presentations, ASN announced that the 2005 National Championships are scheduled for August 12, 13 and 14 at the SRA International karting facility at St-Roch-de-L'Achigan, Quebec.
